April Tools Fundraiser

April Tools Event Overview

The Triangle Off Road Cyclists (TORC) volunteer Trail Coordinators currently share ONE SET of trail building tools that must be transported across the Triangle to the dozen trail locations that TORC currently maintains. Not only does this waste time and prevents volunteers from having much needed workdays to combat the damage of recent rainfall. It also makes it hard to schedule multiple trail work outings on any given weekend with a shortage of tools to go around. As a result, trails are staying closed longer after rain events, which prevents the public from enjoying the amazing trail network in the Triangle.

To solve for this, TORC is raising money to buy a set of standard trail building tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, hoes) for each trail location via the April Tools fundraising effort. This consists of 4 onsite events with local breweries to increase awareness, heavy promotion via TORC/partner communication channels, and a virtual fundraising raffle.

Onsite Events
Four Triangle area breweries have offered to hold promotional events during the month of April to support our fundraising efforts. Vecino Brewing in Carrboro, The Glass Jug Beer Lab in Durham, Crank Arm Brewing of Raleigh, and Carolina Brewing Company of Holly Springs will donate a portion of proceeds to TORC and allow volunteer to promote the raffle.

Virtual Raffle
The virtual raffle will take place during the month of April. Ticket sales will begin April 1 and go through April 30. We will draw and announce winners during a Facebook live event to take place by May 4th (confirming specifics and will update with details).
All donations from the raffle will go directly toward purchasing trail building tools, supplies, and materials that will be used by TORC volunteers to maintain local trails. Raffle tickets may be purchased for $5 each.
