Triangle Land Conservancy has asked TORC to set up a monthly Brumley Forest workday for both regular maintenance as well as larger problem area fixes. Come help keep the trails you ride on the regular in great shape!

COVID-19 advisory

Most TORC group activity is on hold for the moment. We are starting to have some socially distant workdays and small group rides, but not much. So it’s especially important to check the meetup page these days.

When and where

Check our meetup page and look for an upcoming Brumley Forest Workday in events. We will try to have one every month if possible, and the meetup event will describe the work that needs to be done on that particular workday. If you have any questions, contact us.

A Typical Brumley Forest Workday

Start:8:00 to 8:15am
Location:We’ll meet at the maintenance shed off of Old NC 10. It’s the dirt road that Springhouse loop cuts across. From there, we may split into groups.
Duration:No more than 3 hours
Type of work:Basic maintenance (de-berming portions of the trail), as well as correcting drainage issues on low-lying spots. There may be some rock armoring projects for more experienced trail builders. A little something for everyone!
Tools:Tools will be provided.
What to bring:Sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, appropriate clothing, and water

The George and Julia Brumley Nature Preserve is owned and managed by the Triangle Land Conservancy, who has partnered with TORC for trail building and maintenance on the 613 acres 2 miles outside of Hillsborough. These trails have garnered a reputation for being fast and flowy, and just plain fun. Learn more on our Trails page.
